![]() In year 11, mock GCSE examinations take place in late November/early December. In both year 10 and 11, internal assessments are administered at least 3 times per year and are used to inform the grades that students are currently working at. Students studying a BTEC course will take an external examination in addition to completing various units. Students will be informed of the dates for their NEA in advance and should be aware that they may be disadvantaged if they do not attend school on that date. The actual NEA will usually be completed on a fixed day and will be done under examination conditions. This preparation time might extend to several lessons. Students prepare for the NEA under the guidance of their subject teachers. The number of NEA components varies between subjects (some have none, others have one or more). NEA (Non-Examination Assessment) has replaced coursework and controlled assessment in the majority of subjects. These are linear with all written exams taking place at the end of Year 11. The restrictions placed on students are similar to those in the quiz Extra. The application must be downloaded and installed on the device that the student uses to attempt the quiz. We will be available on GCSE results day so that girls can explore their options. Safe Exam Browser is a customised web browser, available for Windows (7, 8.1, 10), macOS (starting 10.7, recommended 10.11 or newer) and iOS (9.3.5 or newer). In Year 10, students begin their GCSE courses. I know when I send my daughter there everyday that she is safe. Instead, students sit internal mock exams in these subjects in the Sports Hall, to allow them to become familiar with the examination procedures that are required for GCSE exams. Year 9 students no longer take national SATs tests in English, Mathematics and Science. This is shown on the student’s individual flight-path in every subject. The results from these assessments are used to inform the level that students are currently working at. ![]() ![]() In every subject, students will take a minimum of 3 assessments every year (one assessment per term). In years 7, 8 and 9 all students are assessed formally by internal tests that are administered by subject staff in classrooms.
